CABANATUAN CITY – A security guard of a prime subdivision here allegedly went berserk and stabbed two fellow guards sleeping at their quarters, killing one on the spot and injuring the other, police here reported.

City police head Lt. Col. Barnard Danie Dasugo said the incident occurred at the guardhouse of the Sta. Lucia Realty-owned Don Jose De Real Subdivision in Bgy. Hermogenes Concepcion Sr. at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Killed was Billy Joe Salanga, of Bgy. Pamaldan while hurt was Jaynard Manabat, 32, of Purok 4, Bgy. Sumacab Norte, both of this city.

Dasugo identified the suspect as Joseph Tamayao, of Bgy. Talipapa, this city, who remains at large.

Manabat told cops he and Salanga were asleep at the guardhouse when Tamayao suddenly stabbed them, hitting Manabat in the face and Salanga on different parts of the body.

Manabat was able to run for safety, leaving Salanga behind.

Dasugo said his men found the stab-riddled body of Salanga on the floor with the suspect nowhere in sight.

He said a manhunt operation has been launched for the possible arrest of the suspect, who is facing charges of murder and frustrated murder before the city prosecutor’s office here.
