A BARANGAY in Pasig City launched a weekly “day care” program to promote the active living of elders.

The activity was part of the Elderly Filipino Week, celebrated every first week of October of every year under Republic Act (RA) 11350, or the “National Commission of Senior Citizen Act” which aims to advance the health and well-being of senior citizens, provide services, programs, and activities that are beneficial to the seniors, and ensure a supportive and enabling environment for the elderly.

At least 200 seniors in Barangay San Antonio (BSA) participated in the Senior Care program recently, where seniors were treated with various care activities.

The attendees were treated with interactive sessions, simple physical, and mental activities facilitated by volunteers from Rizal Medical Center.

BSA Chairman Raymond Lising, the Senior Care program is being implemented under a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Rizal Medical Center’s Family and Community Medicine unit.
