
Sedan-driving man nabbed for avoiding checkpoint, yielding shabu, gun, bullets
SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija – A man riding a sedan was arrested after he was spotted deliberately avoiding a police checkpoint and yielding an unlicensed gun and shabu during routine inspection on Saturday afternoon in this town.
Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Ferdinand D. Germino said the suspect, a 43-year-old technician, of Bgy. Sanbermecristi, Cabanatuan City, was driving a maroon Mitisubishi Lancer (CNY-205) which suddenly made a u-turn when approaching the checkpoint in Bgy. Tabuating at 2:40 p.m. on Saturday.
The suspect was accosted for disregarding the checkpoint. However, after a body search on him, authorities found in his possession a cal.38 revolver with six bullets and six plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 0.58 grams worth P3,944.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, Republic Act 9165 and Disobedience to an agent of person in authority are being readied for inquest-filing against the suspect before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Cabanatuan City.
