Sara reminds supporters to maintain physical distance
DISPLAYING the signature “malasakit” or compassion of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), party vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Friday afternoon personally thought of ways to remind supporters of the need to maintain physical distancing during campaign sorties.
Although it is a huge challenge, still keeps on telling the well-wishers she meets to always observe minimum public health standards (MPHS) amid the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“But minsan kasi ‘yung mga tao sa sobrang passion nila and sa excitement nila, nakalimutan talaga nila ‘yung minimum public health standards,” Duterte told reporters on the sidelines of a sortie in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
“Sinusubukan din talaga namin na mayroon kaming personnel na in charge para sa reminders ng public health standards. Kahit ako tumutulong na sa pag-remind sa mga tao at ‘yung police at local government public officials rin, tumutulong na rin sila,” she said.
Duterte, the Lakas-CMD chairperson and presidential daughter, has been practically treated like a rockstar wherever she goes since launching the “Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas” caravan last week.
The people’s reception of the vice presidential candidate has since become more frenzied thanks to the official start of the campaign period for national posts last February 8.
“But so far naman, sa distancing lang nagkaka-problema talaga dahil nakita namin na lahat naman ay compliant sa masks,” she noted.
According to Duterte, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) should check out what’s happening on the ground during these campaign sorties and act accordingly.
“We leave it up to them to reassess what is happening on the ground and to reassess if their rules are realistic on the ground,” said Duterte, who along with Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer comprise the BBM-Sara UniTeam.
The Davao mayor has always made it a point to thank the local officials and residents who receive them during her UniTeam’s sorties.
