SAN JOSE CITY – The city government emerged as back-to-back champions after winning the 2022 Nueva Ecija “Parol” lantern-making contest sponsored by the provincial tourism office headed by Atty. Joma San Pedro.

City tourism officer Darmo Escuadro said his office also bagged last year’s Parol competitions, retaining the title for the second time in a row for the city, which has been adjudged as Nueva Ecija’s “Christmas Capital” since 2018.

Escuadro said the city bested nine other competitors, with Guimba and Talavera capturing the second and third places, respectively.

This city’s winning Parol was assembled using recycled and native materials such as used plastic and Yakult bottles, plastic spoons, dried grains, coconut leaves, and old Christmas lights.
