San Antonio top cop warns BSKE bets about ‘Marisol, Marites, Marichu’
SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija — This town’s top cop warned some 582 candidates for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) here against the emergence of “intelligence officers” named “Marisol, Marites, and Marichu.”
Rommel C. Nabong, in obvious reference to names of persons who love to gossip.
The police official made the statement during the holding of the BSKE 2023 “Unity Walk-Interfaith Rally/Covenant-Signing and Candidates’ Forum” held at the Dr. Jose Lapuz Salonga Gymnasium on Wednesday morning.
Joining Nabong in the activity were Municipal Election officer Rose Arbeth M. Villar, Municipal Interior and Local Government head Rowena S. Adriano, Dr. Ester D. Ramos, DEP-ED district supervisor, Lourdan V. Brinio, chair-Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting-San Antonio chapter, and Ma. Rosario M. Bolagao, revenue officer of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Cabanatuan City.
Villar urged BSKE candidates to put in heart and mind and practice what was being preached during the activity. She also said the poll body will open its committee on “kontra-bigay” or vote-buying/selling as she warned bets on the proper use of social media in their campaigning.
During the candidates’ forum, it was asked by a barangay captain candidate if he could attend a birthday party if invited and the reply was he could attend but do not bring any gift. A lugaw/mami vendor-barangay kagawad bet also asked if he could give lugaw/mami while tending his business, and the Comelec’s answer was no because it was prohibited.
The activity concluded with the ceremonial release of white balloons in the air by the participants in front of the municipal administration building.
