San Antonio LGU receives award from DTI

CABANATUAN CITY — The municipality of San Antonio in Nueva Ecija bagged the top award for “Pinakamaringal na Pamilihang-Bayan sa Nueva Ecija 2023.”

The citation was bestowed to the San Antonio municipal government during the celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month held at the SM City-Cabanatuan on Thursday.

The event was led by the Department of Trade and Industry-Nueva Ecija, the Nueva Ecija League of Market Administrators, Inc. (NELMA) and Nueva Ecija Consumer Affairs Advocacy Association Inc. (NECAAA).

Vice Mayor Julie E. Maxwell, who represented Mayor Arvin C. Salonga, received the award from DTI-NE provincial director Richard V. Simangan.

Aside from San Antonio, two other local government units — San Jose City led by City Mayor Mario “Kokoy” Salvador, and Carranglan — bagged first place honors during the even,t which was held primarily by the DTI-NE in order to promote consumerism and underscore the importance of responsible consumption and the adoption of sustainable consumer practices.

Simangan said a cash token worth P15,000 each was awarded to the three first-place LGU winners.

Also cited as “Hall of Fame” awardees by the DTI were the municipal governments of Talavera and Gabaldon.

Other LGU awardees were Lupao, 2nd place; Rizal and Bongabon, 3rd; Science City of Munoz, 4th; Cuyapo, 5th; Cabanatuan City, Guimba, and Santa Rosa, 6th; Zaragosa, 7th; Talugtug, 8th; Aliaga, 9th; and Quezon and Nampicuan, 10th.
