Saluting PH scientists
SCIENTISTS, researchers and experts are among our “treasures” because they play critical roles in speeding up the country’s socio-economic development.
In the view of many, these highly-trained Filipino professionals are as much a national resource as our national wealth – our forests, mountains, rivers, lakes and streams.
Even President Marcos, in a speech last Friday, acknowledged that using science and technology could lead to meaningful action and policies to achieve development.
“I cannot think of a better, a more qualified group of individuals who will help clear the shadows of doubt and become beacons of light than our women and men in the fields of science,” said Marcos.
He made the statement during the 2023 Annual Scientific Conference and 90th General Membership Assembly of the National Research Council of the Philippines in Pasay City.
Imagine what Filipinos can accomplish, the Ilocano Chief Executive said, once “we light our path” with the foundations of science and agricultural technology that will help farmers.
President Marcos also lauded our scientists, researchers and experts from various fields for their invaluable contributions that form part of the solid foundation of Philippine society.
Without doubt, these Filipino professionals, including those trained overseas, deserve to be supported by the Filipino people from Batanes in the North to Sulu in the South.
Thus, as well-meaning Filipinos, we commend our hard-working scientists, researchers and experts for their expertise, discipline, nationalism and dedication to duty.
