Sale of vapes
THE government, through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has suspended the online sale, advertising and distribution of vape products.
Described by many quarters as long overdue, the order drew cheers and applause from the health community and the parents themselves.
The government wants to ensure that vapes are not sold to minors and that the products out in the market are complying with safety standards.
Without doubt, it is very frustrating to see minors, boys and girls, vaping even in public places. such as plazas, parks and school grounds.
The DTI deserves the support of the everybody as it exerts its best efforts to ensure the health and well-being of our people, according to a parent.
“Sa totoo lang, hindi sa lahat ng oras ay nakikita ng mga magulang ang kanilang mga anak. Kaya, tama ang ginawa ng DTI, ” the parent added.
It is public knowledge that the country’s health authorities are against cigarette smoking and vaping, claiming that these are dangerous to health.
“Talagang napakahirap balansihin ng gobyerno ang kapakanan ng taumbayan at ng mga taong nabubuhay sa pagtatanim ng tabako,” a village official said.
Many people in the North depend on the tobacco industry for their cash and livelihood. “Dapat may iba silang pagkakakitaan para tumigil silang magtanim ng tabako,”the official added.
Thus, we cannot overemphasize the importance of iinformation dissemination if we are to succeed in our encouraging our people to stop smoking and vaping.
