ON August 10, the heart of Sagay City witnessed a transformative moment as the local Alagang Tingog Center (ATC) was inaugurated, followed by a payout event with the support of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

This collaborative effort involved the Office of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude A. Acidre, and the Office of the Presidential Assistance in Visayas, highlighting the commitment to accessible and inclusive services.

ATC Sagay City serves as a focal point for various social services, encompassing medical aid, educational assistance, burial support, cash benefits, and more.

The inauguration and payout event brought together distinguished attendees, including Hon. Alfredo D. Maranon III, Representative of District 2 Negros Occidental; Hon. Narciso Javelosa Jr., Sagay City Mayor; Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva; SP Members such as Arthur Christopher Maranon, Rodnel Delos Reyes, Roldan Gamao, Ching Javellana, Felica Dela Cruz, and Lura Javellana; and City Administrator Atty. Ryan Bonghanoy.

During the inauguration, Negros Occidental Rep. Alfredo D. Maranon III expressed gratitude for the initiative’s impact on the community, emphasizing the significance of providing essential services at the grassroots level.

He recounted the promise made by Speaker Romualdez and Cong. Yedda during their 2016 visit to Cadiz, reaffirming that this initiative represents the fulfillment of that commitment to aid the citizens.

Hon. Narciso Javelosa Jr., Sagay City Mayor, echoed his appreciation, thanking Cong. Yedda for providing aid that greatly benefits the citizens of Sagay. He highlighted that this aid is particularly
crucial during the off-season when residents face job scarcity due to the focus on sugarcane harvesting, the region’s main agricultural product. He promised that Sagaynons would reciprocate the support whenever Tingog needs assistance.

Cong. Yedda expressed her gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), distinguished guests, the Tingog team, and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) for their efforts in making the ATC Sagay City inauguration and payout possible. She emphasized her happiness in serving the people of Sagay and shared a local saying: “Kung matingog may ihatag,” which translates to “If you speak, we will give.” She thanked the community for their support, highlighting how the support given to Tingog will ultimately benefit the people.

The back-to-back events—the inauguration of ATC Sagay City and the payout ceremony—benefited 1,000 individuals from diverse sectors such as Youth, Senior Citizens, LGBTQ+ Community, and Single mothers, each receiving 5,000 pesos.

This underscores the united efforts of the Office of Speaker Martin Romualdez, Tingog Party-list, OPAV, and local partners to create a more empowered Sagay City.
