‘Sabungeros probe’ relentless
Remulla updates families on gov’t efforts to solve case
JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla has assured families of missing cockfighting aficionados that the government will remain unrelenting in investigating their disappearances.
This as Remulla and other officials of the Department of Justice (DOJ), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday met anew families of more than 30 missing “sabungeros,” or cockfighting aficionados.
Government prosecutors in December last year found probable cause to charge six suspects in the disappearance of six cockfighting enthusiasts from Tanay, Rizal.
Remulla updated the families of the missing sabungeros of new developments and assured them that the DOJ, NBI and PNP are firming up their case build-up.
“We are gathering more evidence, and putting a lot of resources and time to solve the case,” Remulla told the families.
He also vowed to have a regular meeting with the victims’ families to give them an update on the government’s efforts.
The families of the victims expressed gratitude to the Remulla for his unwavering commitment and efforts to solve the case.
