POLICE Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. on Monday announced the arrest of more wanted lawbreakers in Southern Mindanao amid their stepped-up anti-criminality drive in the region before Christmas.

In a report to Philippine National Police Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said that there was also a generally peaceful situation in the region in the just-ended Christmas festivities, although he added they are “not taking any chances” and are fully securing the region ahead of the New Year’s eve revelries.

Silo said that among those arrested last week was a 62-year-old man, a resident of Lanang, Davao City wanted for acts of lasciviousness. Judge Sarah Aguisando-Silvosa recommended a P180,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused who was arrested last Wednesday.

A 2nd, identified with the alias “Koi,” tagged as a “high-value target” (HVT) in the region, was arrested during a buy-bust operation which resulted in the seizure of nearly P60,000 worth of shabu, the official said.

Silo said that the 48-year-old suspect, the 4th most wanted drug personality in Davao City, was arrested during a sting in Jerome Street in Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Agdao District, on Christmas Eve.

Recovered were eight plastic sachets containing the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

The suspect is now facing non-bailable charges for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said the official.

The 3rd, a man wanted for robbery with violence against or intimidation of a person, was tracked down in his hiding place in Toril district and arrested on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Melinda Dayanghirang of the Davao City RTC (Regional Trial Court) Branch 54.

A P100,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.
