“IT’S landslide victory.”

This was how House Majority Leader and Lakas-CMD president Martin Romualdez interpreted the latest Pulse Asia survey, showing the UniTeam presidential and vice presidential bets leading the polls.

Romualdez stressed that if former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will continue to lead the surveys, their victory in the May 9 elections can be sealed.

Based on the Pulse Asia survey, conducted last February 18 to 23, Marcos got 60 percent while Mayor Sara got 53 percent.

Mayor Sara is seeking the vice presidency under Lakas-CMD, which she chairs, while Marcos is the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

“Our candidates have maintained their high marks, less than two months before the May elections. Despite such surveys showing, they will keep on campaigning and spreading their message of hope, patriotism and unity,” Romualdez said.

He said Pulse Asia’s February survey “validates the wide support BBM and Mayor Sara enjoy and the warm and vigorous welcome and reception they have been receiving throughout the country.”

The Pulse Asia poll showed that Marcos Jr. was preferred by 60 percent of respondents, while Mayor Sara was picked by 53 percent.

“Our candidates will try their best to improve or at least sustain their survey showing in the remaining days of the campaign,” Romualdez said.

“Based on these latest numbers, BBM and Mayor Inday Sara would be the first candidates for president and vice president in our recent history who could win by a majority vote, instead of a mere plurality,” Romualdez added.

Vice President Leni Robredo, BBM’s closest opponent, was chosen by 16 percent in the February survey, up by one point from January. Marcos Jr. also had 60 percent in January.

In the vice presidential race, Duterte improved her voter preference by three points, from 50 percent in January to 53 percent in February, while her closest rival, Senate President Vicente Sotto lll, slipped by five points, from 29 percent to 24 percent.

Marcos and Mayor Sara also continued to enjoy majority or near-majority support across the country.

In the February survey, Marcos had 66 percent in the National Capital Region (NCR), 58 percent in Balance of Luzon, 53 percent in Visayas, and 68 percent in Mindanao.

Mayor Sara scored 48 percent in NCR, 41 percent in Balance of Luzon, 51 percent in Visayas, and a high 82 percent in Mindanao.
