Romualdez: Pope Benedict XVI a great leader of the Catholic faith
SPEAKER Martin G. Romualdez has expressed his profound condolences to Catholics, loved ones, and people who inspired by His Holiness, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who have been died at the age of 95.
Romualdez said he and his family were deeply saddened by the passing of Pope Benedict XVI, whose birth name was Joseph Ratzinger.
“We mourn with the rest of the world on the passing of a great leader of the Catholic faith, Pope Benedict XVI,” Romualdez said.
As a predominantly Catholic country, Romualdez said the Philippines shares the sorrow of those in grief over the death of an endeared and very charismatic man of faith.
“But with this grief comes hope and joy as we celebrate his life, his principles, and his legacy,” Romualdez said.
“And may we all find comfort in the thought that Pope Benedict XVI is now in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father,” the Speaker said as cited the selfless contributions of Pope Benedict XVI to the Catholic faith in promoting goodwill to all people and peace and development.
