MAJORITY Leader Martin Romualdez has been described as a great leader of the House of Representatives.

In a statement, Cagayan Representative Samantha Louise Vargas Alfonso thanked Romualdez for leading the members of the 18th Congress in the passage of important measures.

Alfonso stressed that several neophyte solons learned much from Romualdez about legislative work.

Romualdez will be the incoming Speaker of the House of the 19th Congress as he was anointed by president-elect Bongbong Marcos Jr. and was endorsed by almost all political parties in the House.

Alfonso said her district in Cagayan totally supports the Romualdez leadership.

Muli, marami pong salamat sa inyong walang sawang pagtulong at pagsuporta,” she added.

In his speech during the adjournment sine die, Romualdez said he was very honored and proud to lead the plenary, especially in dealing with important measures.

“I am proud to have walked these halls with all of you as we have faithfully discharged our duties to our nation and our people. I am in awe of the fortitude and competence displayed by our collective action towards achieving a fruitful and responsive legislature,” Romualdez said.

Romualdez said the 18th Congress was able to finish its final year with integrity and honor, for the work had been done with courage amidst uncertainties and abnormalities brought by the pandemic.
