Rob suspect killed in Davao City, P145K illegal drugs seized
A “NOTORIOUS” robbery-holdup and “Akyat-Bahay” suspect in Davao City who was killed in a shootout with local policemen was found to be carrying almost P145,000 worth of shabu and marijuana, Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. said on Monday.
The official identified the slain suspect with the alias “Bading”, the subject of a police anti-criminality effort following his confirmed involvement in theft, “salisi” and akyat-bahay, and snatching activities in Davao City.
According to the official, the shootout took place shortly after members of the Davao City Sta. Ana Police Station 1 under Lt. Col. Ronald Lao received a report from a concerned citizen regarding the presence of a man armed with a gun in Ilang-Ilang Street in Barangay Leon Garcia in Agdao District around 8:20 a.m. last Saturday.
He said that when officers arrived in the area, they saw two unidentified men outside a shanty who were acting suspiciously. Later, one of the two fired a shot at the lawmen before fleeing.
The suspect fired a second shot before one of the policemen managed to hit him. The suspect was later identified as “Bading”, a resident of Bgy. Leon Garcia and was pronounced dead on arrival in a local hospital by an attending physician.
Silo said that initially recovered from the possession of the suspect were one chamber-loaded Colt MK caliber .45 pistol with a defaced serial number and a magazine containing four live ammunition, and a pink container with eight plastic sachets of shabu.
While in the hospital, the suspect’s pockets were checked, which led to the recovery of six plastic sachets of shabu and a plastic packet containing dried marijuana leaves. The shabu weighed around 21 grams.
The PRO11 director said that records showed that the suspect was arrested last May 12 by the local police for a theft case, although he was set free five days later after posting bail.
“The Davao City police has placed the slain suspect under monitoring amid his reported involvement in a string of robbery-holdup and theft activities,” said Silo.
