RESIGN, PLEASE
FORMER Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV labeled Vice President Sara Duterte as “kapit-tuko” as she called on the Cabinet official to resign as Education Secretary following her family’s attacks against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Former president Rodrigo Duterte alleged that President Marcos Jr. is an addict, while Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte asked the President to resign for what he said was a lack of love and aspirations for the country.
“Pagkatapos ng kaguluhan, minura at ininsulto na ng tatay at mga kapatid mo, tapos kapit-tuko ka pa rin as DepEd Secretary?” Trillanes told VP Duterte.
The Vice President has defended her brother on his calls for resignation, saying it was made out of brotherly love. She has yet to make a statement on her father’s attacks against President Marcos, a sitting president with the largest mandate from the Filipino people with nearly 32 million votes.
Trillanes said VP Sara should be ashamed to stay as Education Secretary following her family’s acts against her appointing authority, President Marcos Jr.
“Konting hiya naman. Magresign ka na as DepEd Secretary, please. #SaraResign,” the former senator said.
Two other former lawmakers also expressed disbelief that VP Duterte is still hanging on to her position as Cabinet Secretary after her family’s tirades against the President.
“Kapatid mo pinagreresign na ang Presidente. Tatay mo pinagbintangan siya na nasa listahan daw ng PDEA. Mga alyado niyo banat na ng banat,” said former Akbayan Rep. Barry Gutierrez, also a former spokesperson for then VP Leni Robredo.
“Hindi ka tumututol. Delicadeza na lang na dapat umalis ka na sa Cabinet diba?” he added.
Former Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares also said VP Duterte’s position as Education Secretary has become untenable after her family’s stunt.
“Para sa akin, the Vice President cannot continue to be a part of the Cabinet ni President Marcos … Hindi na yan tenable na mag-stay ka pa dyan. What will you do in Cabinet meetings? Puwede ba yun, wala nang tiwala sayo ang buong gabinete?” Colmenares said.
“It’s her choice, and it’s President Marcos’ choice. Ang sinasabi ko lang naman, how can you maintain your position in the Cabinet after your father and your brother called your principal (out) for being a drug addict and at the same time dapat mag-resign,” he added.
