Rep. Villar denies vote buying allegations
LAS Pinas City Rep. Camille Villar is denying allegations that she was involved in vote buying.
While waiting for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) show cause order, Villar already sent an official statement to which she is clarifying what transpired in the said event.
The Comelec is set to issue a show cause order against Villar, a senatorial candidate, over alleged vote buying according to body’s committee on Kontra Bigay.
CKB executive director Teopisto Elnas Jr. said the committee was acting on an anonymous tip of a video of Villar present in an apparent raffle activity in Barangay Buhay na Tubig in Imus, Cavite with some local officials.
The Facebook posts were dated February 12 and 16 but the Comelec only received it on April 21.
The official campaign period started on February 11.
But according to Villar, the event referred to happened last February 9, 2025, which was way before the campaign period.
“I vehemently deny any allegation or insinuation of vote buying or commission of any election offense for that matter,” she said in a statement.
The lady solon is confident that the COMELEC will clear her name on these wrongful allegations upon hearing her side on the matter.
“To all of my supporters, thank you for your continued trust and support. Nananalig ako na dahil sa inyong suporta, magkakaroon ang Pilipinas ng Bagong Boses at Bagong Bukas. Maraming salamat at mabuhay po tayong lahat,” she also said.
