AKO Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co on Tuesday expressed his support for the 11 additional urgent bills identified as priority administration measures by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (Ledac).

Co, chairman of the House committee on appropriations, commended the leadership of Speaker Romualdez in pushing for the approval of priority measures in Congress. Speaker Romualdez announced that President Marcos has approved 11 bills addressing major issues in public health, job creation, and economic growth.

These bills are among the administration’s top priorities and will be the focus of the House’s legislative efforts.

As chairman of the panel, Co is committed to working with his colleagues to ensure that these bills are given the utmost attention and deliberation they deserve.

Co said these bills are urgent because they are part of the administration’s priority legislation and have been identified as critical measures needed to address current challenges in the country. He also lauded Speaker Romualdez for his leadership in pushing for the priority bills and ensuring that they are given the utmost attention in the House.

“Amendments to fixed terms in the Armed Forces of the Philippines will improve the management and efficiency of the military organization, while ease of paying taxes will provide relief to individuals and businesses. The local government unit income classification and infrastructure development plan aims to create more opportunities for economic growth and development in different parts of the country. Amendments to the Universal Health Care Act will further strengthen the country’s healthcare system, ensuring that more Filipinos have access to quality medical services,” Co explained.

Furthermore, Co highlighted the importance of passing the eight measures from the original Ledac list at the homestretch of the first regular session of the 19th Congress.

“These bills include the establishment of regional specialty hospitals, enabling measures for the natural gas industry, National Land Use Act, Budget Modernization Act, and the bill on a unified system of separation, retirement, and pension for uniformed personnel, among others. We need to work together to ensure that these bills are given the utmost attention and deliberation they deserve,” he said.

Co emphasized that the House is committed to working together with the Executive branch to ensure that these measures are passed into law for the benefit of the Filipino people.
