DEPARTMENT of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario believes the swift activation of regional housing committees across the country within the first quarter of 2021 will spur the economy and further enhance synchronization of efforts in the housing industry.

All 16 regional offices (RO) of the DHSUD have successfully convened their respective Regional Human Settlements and Urban Development Coordinating Committee (RHSUDCC) together with the key shelter agencies (KSA), with the aim of synchronizing the housing and urban development efforts in their areas.

Del Rosario welcomed the development, saying the achievement is an integral step in building synergy within the housing agencies and acts as a “driver of growth” for the country.

“Congratulations to our regional offices for their swift action in activating their respective RHSUDCCs. This is a clear proof of our unity and open cooperation shared with our KSAs in fulfilling our mandate of providing resilient and sustainable homes and communities to the underprivileged. Our consolidated efforts will stimulate the growth of thriving communities, which would strengthen our position in uplifting the lives of our people and invigorate the development of our countryside,” said Del Rosario.

Released mid-January, Department Order (DO) 2021-001 paved the way for the creation of RHSUDCC, which ensures that all housing and urban development projects, programs and activities within a certain region are streamlined and complimentary.

It is composed of DHSUD Regional Director as Chairperson and regional heads of the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund, Human Settlements Adjudication Commission, National Housing Authority, National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation, and Social Housing Finance Corporation as members.

The formulation of a Regional Housing and Urban Development Plan in support of the National Housing and Urban Development Sector Plan, Regional Development Plan, and other relevant national and regional plans is among the primary functions of the RHSUDCC.
