Quiambao to return to DLSU
LA SALLE got a major boost on its back-to-back championship bid in next season’s UAAP men’s basketball wars as Season 86 MVP Kevin Quiambao has decided to stay put with the Green Archers.
“Playing for DLSU has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. After constantly consulting my family and friends, we’re excited to run it back and try to make it B2B!,” Quiambao posted on his social media accounts with hashtags #MVPTourContinues and #17, his jersey number, yesterday afternoon.
Quiambao’s posts came exactly a week after the Green Archers had a triumphant return to the UAAP throne, ending speculations regarding his future with the Taft-based program.
Behind Quiambao, La Salle annexed its 10th championship, and the first since 2016, by beating University of the Philippines in a thrilling three-game title series.
Quiambao, the first homegrown talent to win the league’s highest individual award in eight years, was also named the Finals MVP.
The decision for Quiambao to suit up for another year for the Green Archers will be huge for the school, as it celebrates with a victory party, not only for the men’s basketball team, but also for the women’s table tennis and women’s athletics squads which emerged triumphant in Season 86.
Dubbed as the “Animo Victory Celebration”, the festivities will be held on Saturday afternoon at the La Salle campus in Taft.
