SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija – A seven-month pregnant woman and two other female suspects engaged in playing the illegal card game “tong-its” were arrested during the 2nd day of a week-long and “one-time big-time” anti-criminality operation (OTBT-operation) launched by the police here on Tuesday afternoon.

The nabbed three suspects were identified as a seven months pregnant woman, 34, single, and a sari-sari store owner in Bgy. San Vicente, Gapan City; a housewife of a Lazada rider, 30; and a grandmother, 49, both of Bgy. Castellano, this town.

Seized during the anti-illegal gambling raid were a set of playing cards, four plastic chairs, a betting table, and P800 gambling money.

When asked about the reaction of the pregnant woman during the arrest, she said she “had just passed around and was actually going to her mother in Bgy. Castellano.”

The local police warned that those arrested for illegal gambling charges face a hefty penalty of P36,000 for each of them to be able to post bail for their temporary release from detention.

Meanwhile, in their continuing OTBT-operation, Nueva Ecija police said they arrested suspected a drug pusher, 54, of Bgy. Mambangnan during a buy-bust conducted here on Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
