Poverty in PH

LIKE other Third World countries across the globe, the Philippines is still confronted with various problems, notably poverty, unemployment, homelessness and rising prices of goods and services.

But in the view of many, it is not because the government, through concerned offices and agencies, is not doing anything to address all these problems.

The truth is the authorities are out to transform the country’s provinces from Batanes in the North to Sulu in impoverished Minanao into flourishing communities.

In fact, there is now a snowballing move to convince concerned government authorities to give priority to countryside investments to stimulate the domestic economy.

The want to spread the benefits of development down to far-flung communities not only in Luzon but also in the Visayas and Mindanao.

We share the view of many that the creation of more quality jobs and raising agricultural productivity play a stellar role in the success of this gigantic undertaking.

Certainly, transforming sleepy towns and barangays into flourishing communities is not an easy job, but it is not an impossible mission.
