PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) investigators are conducting a thorough investigation and have not found any evidence yet into the separate killings of three barangay captains in the country and if they are connected.

“We are yet to uncover any solid evidence so far to conclude, much less speculate that the recent killings of some barangay officials may be related to one another, but the PNP will carefully look into the circumstances surrounding each case for their swift resolution,” said PNP Public Information Office Chief Brigadier General Roderick Augustus B. Alba.

According to Alba, PNP-Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. has ordered concerned police units to dig deeper into those incidents and see to it that criminal charges will be filed against all identified suspects.

“Sa ngayon, nagpapatuloy ang pagkalap ng mga vital information sa pag-establish ng motibo at paghahanap sa mga suspek. We assure the families of the victims that justice will prevail,” said Brig. Gen. Alba.

Still unidentified gunmen shot to death the chairman of Bgy. Tonsuya in Malabon; the chairman of Bgy. Mabuhay in Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur; and the chairman of Bgy. Tigbawan in Leyte in separate attacks before fleeing.

The Northern Police District (NPD), the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO), and the Leyte PPO are conducting a thorough investigation into each incident.
