PNPTHE chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) said they are enhancing their programs to further reduce the criminality rate in the country.

“Our police, military, and coast guard undergo continuous capacity-building and asset-upgrading, so that they are better able to preserve the peace and defend our territory,” President Marcos said.  PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil said they fully understand the President and they are pushing their anti-criminality programs to the ground.

He also cited their partnership with other law enforcement agencies and the pillars of the country’s criminal justice system in their anti-crime campaign.

“We also invest in modern equipment and technology, including advanced surveillance systems, communication devices, firearms and protective gear.

Fleet and infrastructure upgrades, including new vehicles and improved police stations, enhance our operational efficiency and service delivery,” Gen. Marbil said.

The top cop said that although they have noted a decrease in crime rate and an improvement in crime solution efficiency, they are not enough. “Our law enforcers need to continue to earn the trust of our people.”

“Kung ang pagbabasehan po natin ang crime statistics mula July 2023 hanggang June 30, 2024, kung saan nakapagtala tayo ng 198,584 incidents, mas mababa ito ng 14,666 o 6.88 percent kung ikukumpara sa nakaraang taon na nakapagtala tayo ng 213,250 incidents, masasabi natin na patuloy pong bumubuti ang peace and order sa ating bansa,” Gen. Marbil said.

“While these statistics reflect a significant improvement in our crime rate and solution efficiency, we acknowledge that this is not enough.

We need to continue earning the trust of our people. By fostering strong relationships with the community we serve and maintaining a visible and proactive presence, we aim to further enhance public safety and confidence in our law enforcement agencies,” Gen. Marbil said.

Gen. Marbil has ordered a nationwide intensification of patrol operations across all regional, provincial, city and municipal police stations as part of ongoing efforts to make Filipino communities safer.

He said that part of the directive is for 85 percent of all police personnel to be actively engaged in field duties, significantly reducing the number of officers assigned to office work.

The PNP chief added that the key elements of his directive include foot and motorcycle patrols, Oplan Galugad and Oplan Sita that are meant to enhance visibility and ensure rapid response across the country as instructed by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin C. Abalos Jr.
