
PNP intensifies capability via P478M gadgets, vehicles
THE Philippine National Police headed by General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. has unveiled its latest acquisition worth nearly P478 million to improve its move, shoot, communicate and investigate capabilities across the country.
Acorda emphasized the importance of their new equipment in improving the police’s response time, mobility and operational readiness.
PNP Director for Logistics Major Gen. Mario Reyes said the newly-procured PNP equipment with a total price of P477,434,420.67 was sourced under the PNP’s Capability Enhancement Program 2021 and 2023, 2021 and 202 Balances
Acorda expressed gratitude to the President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration for its responsiveness to the needs of the PNP.
“I firmly believe that deploying well-equipped officers significantly enhances anti-criminality operations and public safety and order.
Through our commitment to ‘Serbisyong Nagkakaisa,’ we continue to provide the best public safety services for all,” he said.
The PNP National Headquarters Bids and Awards Committee successfully procured the following PNP equipment under a program of transparency:
108 Toyota 4×2 patrol jeeps with a total contract price of P132,819,264; 35 Toyota 4×2 patrol jeeps worth P43,022,000;
11 KServico 150cc dirt bikes worth P1,570,800.00; 5 650cc KServico motorcycles worth P2,973,600; 3,243 Striker-fired 9mm semi-automatic pistols with a contract price of P61,473,302.67;
101 monocular Autogated Night Vision equipment worth P28,672,688; 305 monocular Autogated Night Vision with a contract price of P92,328,075;
599 Tactical Vests with a contact price of P23,947,421; and 2,049 tactical vests with a contract price of P90,627,270.
Reyes also presented the newly-procured 956 tyres for the 4×2 patrol jeeps and 4×4 personnel carriers of different National Operational Support Units of the police force as well as heavy Police Security and Protection Group motorcycles and 8,105 raincoats that will be used by police personnel rendering police visibility nationwide.
Acorda said the vehicles will be used by police units and stations that really need them even as he revealed they are in the process of procuring additional body cameras and watercraft this year.
The PNP chief said that having been assigned in the Mimaropa region as a police provincial director before, he knows the difficulty one officer encounters each time he has to travel to Manila or go to other provinces in the region.
Acorda said they are also planning to put up more police stations to accommodate around 6,000 more policemen that were recruited last year.
