PNP-IG agents capture 2 PH most wanted men
TWO of the country’s most wanted persons were captured by agents of the Philippine National Police following “intelligence packets” provided by the PNP Intelligence Group last week, a report to Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil said yesterday.
The suspects were identified as Lito, 27, a suspected New People’s Army member wanted for several counts of murder and frustrated murder cases, and 57-year-old Misael alias “Jimlan/Totoy,” a man with a P1.010 million reward for his capture offered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
According to PNP-IG director newly-promoted Brig. Gen. Frankie C. Candelario, members of the Regional Intelligence Unit 13 developed the “intel packet” which resulted in the arrest of Lito in his hiding place at Sitio Liangabon, Purok 4 in Bgy. Calatngan, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur on Thursday last week.
The official said that operatives from the San Miguel Municipal Police Station and the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office assisted the RIU13 in placing the suspect under arrest on the strength of separate warrants for multiple murder, murder, multiple attempted murder, frustrated murder and attempted murder issued by different Regional Trial Courts in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur and Cantilan, Surigao del Sur in 2021 and 2022.
No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused in connection with the multiple murder cases filed against him.
Candelario also said that the suspect is also the subject of another warrant of arrest for illegal logging under the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines issued by a Tandag City court, with a P24,000 recommended bail.
The official described the suspect as a member of the already dismantled NPA Guerrilla Front 30 operating in Lianga, Surigao del Sur and nearby municipalities.
The second suspect, Misael was arrested along Urgello St. in Bgy. Sambag 1 in Cebu City on Tuesday last week by combined officers from the RIU7, the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office and the Police Regional Office 7 Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Mobile Force Battalion.
Candelario said that the accused is wanted for rebellion, murder, frustrated murder, two counts of robbery and three counts of theft issued by the Bayawan City RTC Branch 63, Branch 64 in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
He said that the suspect is included in the list of most wanted persons of the DILG and is carrying a monetary reward of P1.010 million for his capture.
Under the leadership of PNP Directorate for Intelligence, Major Gen. Westrimundo D. Obinque, the PNP-IG has further intensified its effort to account for most wanted terrorists and other criminals in the county, said Candelario.
