
PNP-HPG recovers 19 stolen vehicles
NINETEEN stolen motor vehicles and motorcycles were recovered by agents of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group in a string of anti-carjacking operations, PNP-HPG director Brigadier General Eleazar P. Matta reported on Thursday.
“These consecutive recoveries and impoundments reflect the commitment and vigilance of our personnel in securing our roads and bringing justice to victims of vehicle-related crimes. We also assure the citizenry that we remain unrelenting in our effort to protect the rights of our motorists,” the PNP-HPG director said.
The official reported to PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil that two suspects were also arrested in an operation along the national highway in Los Baños, Laguna on Tuesday.
Recovered from the two suspects who were on board a Toyota Rush equipped with a blinker and without a rear license plate were a loaded caliber 9mm semi-automatic pistol and a cal. .45 pistol. Found inside their Toyota Rush.
The driver was identified as a security personnel of the Sta. Rosa City board while his passenger was a local government employee. Both failed to present any license and a gun ban exemption permit from the Commission on Elections prompting the HPG Laguna Provincial Highway Patrol Team to place them under arrest.
On Wednesday, HPG Negros Oriental PHPT members recovered a stolen Yamaha NMax in Mabinay municipality. A suspect identified as ‘Celso’ is now being investigated.
On the same day, HPG operatives impounded a Mitsubishi Mirage in Makati City found sporting an unauthorized plate number and with suspicious registration papers.
HPG Region 11 agents also recovered a stolen Yamaha Sniper 150cc motorcycle in Davao City last Monday.
On Tuesday, HPG officers intercepted a Suzuki van loaded with suspected smuggled cigarettes along the Panacan highway in Davao City.
On the same day, HPG Region 11 men recovered a stolen Toyota Fortuner in Tagum City in Davao del Norte and another Fortuner in Ecoland, Davao City. Both vehicles are believed to have been stolen under the ‘Rent-Tangay’ scheme.
The same day also saw the RHPU 4-A intercepting a Nissan Urvan stolen thru the scame fraudulent scheme in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
Another stolen Honda Click motorcycle was recovered by RHPU12 agents in Bgy. Poblacion in Talitay, Maguindanao del Norte while an unregistered Isuzu Elf was seized in Meycauayan City in Bulacan by the RHPU3.
HPG men also recovered a suspected stolen Toyota Vios in Cotabato City and a Honda XRM125 in Misamis Oriental last Monday.
In Las Piñas City, HPG men impounded an Isuzu aluminum van found loaded with tile products which the vehicle driver failed to deliver to its rightful receiver in San Jose del Monte City.
Brig. Gen. Matta said his men also arrested two persons identified as alias ‘Erika,’33; and ‘Edward,’59, during an entrapment operation in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna last Sunday. The two were accused of involvement in robbery-extortion and vehicle scam in the province.
An investigation showed that the two demanded P100,000 from the registered owner of a Toyota Vios which they failed to return to the latter after the end of their contract.
In Tanay, Rizal, RHPU4-A officers recovered a stolen Mitsubishi Xpander which was found being sold thru Facebook Marketplace. Another vehicle-a stolen Mazda MX5 was recovered in Antipolo City while a Toyota Hilux was found inside a subdivision in Teresa, Rizal.
The pick-up was found to have been used in a robbery incident in Antipolo City last April 20.
