PNP-CIDG agents haul 320 wanted persons to jail

AT least 320 wanted persons and other lawbreakers were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in separate ‘One-Time, Big-Time’ anti-criminality operations in the country this week, PNP-CIDG director, Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said on Sunday.

“The arrests were made in line with our effort to account for all wanted felons in the country as ordered by PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.,” the PNP-CIDG director told the Journal Group.

Among those arrested were seven Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) at the Regional Level; nine in the Provincial MWP Level; and 174 Other Wanted Persons in different cities and municipalities.

The arrested suspects are facing a string of criminal charges ranging from qualified rape, rape, murder, homicide and estafa.

One of the latest to be arrested by the PNP-CIDG was Edward Salonga, a 30-year old most wanted person in Central Luzon. The suspect is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for three counts of qualified rape.

Among the MWPs arrested were Angelo Sarile, the 2nd most wanted person in Calabarzon region. The suspect was arrested on the basis of a non-bailable warrant for three counts of rape and lascivious conduct issued by Judge Janice Andrade-Udarbe of the Imus Regional Trial Court Branch 22 in Cavite.

Another identified as Ronnie Elaydo, the most wanted person in Ilocos Norte, was arrested on the basis of a warrant for qualified rape issued by Judge Charles Javier Calapini of the Bangui RTC Branch 19 in Ilocos Norte.

No bail was also recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.

Brig. Gen. Lee said that his men also accounted for 34 illegal gambling personalities during the period following operations which led in the confiscation of P186,960 in cash bets.
