PNP-CIDG accounts for 38 wanted men
THIRTY-EIGHT wanted persons were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a string of anti-crime operations in the country this week, officials said yesterday.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil commended the unit headed by Maj. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III for their aggressive effort to account for most wanted persons and other fugitives nationwide.
Yesterday, CIDG Cebu Provincial Field Unit operatives raided a house in Bgy. North Poblacion in San Fernando, Cebu where they recovered an unlicensed cal. .45 pistol, a 9mm sub-machine pistol and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol as well as different magazines and live ammunition.
The raid, which is part of the PNP-CIDG’s intensified effort to account for loose firearms and private armed groups, also led to the arrest of one “Albert,” a suspected member of the Amancio Criminal Group included in the list of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence for its involvement in gunrunning activities in Cebu province.
Last Monday, Marbil also commended the CIDG Luzon and National Capital Region Field Units for capturing 16 high-profile fugitives, including “Belmin,” a Regional-Level Most Wanted Person (MWP), who was arrested by the CIDG Baguio City Field Unit for robbery.
CIDG agents in Visayas region also apprehended five suspects led by a wanted rape suspect with the alias “Wennie” while in Mindanao, local CIDG units jailed 14 targets, including one “Jasmer” who is wanted for a non-bailable murder case and an alias “Khalid” who is facing charges for murder and car theft.
“I salute our CIDG teams nationwide for their relentless commitment and swift action in taking 37 fugitives off the streets in just one day. Your bravery and perseverance in carrying out this difficult task not only strengthen public safety but also bring hope to victims still waiting for justice. Ang tagumpay na ito ay tagumpay ng mamamayang Pilipino,” said Marbil.
He also assured the public that the CIDG remains relentless in its efforts to account for and arrest all wanted persons and criminals across the nation, continuously upholding the law.
