THE Philippine Military Academy (PMA) on Saturday honored Philippine National Police (PNA) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. with a testimonial parade in recognition of his 34 years of sterling service to the country.

In his speech, the top cop who will mark his 56th birthday today, April 24, expressed his gratitude to the Cadet Corps of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and to the PMA administration led by Lieutenant Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino.

He also thanked his classmates from PMA ‘Makatao’ Class of 1989.

Gen. Azurin said the event was not only a celebration of his achievements but also of the values that were shaped and honed during his time at PMA, which have guided him to the pinnacle of his profession.

He highlighted the importance of discipline, hard work, and sacrifice, which became the cornerstone of his success in serving the country and eventually as the 28th PNP chief.

As he approaches the end of his service to the PNP, Azurin shared that he is filled with mixed emotions.

“While I am excited for what the future holds, I cannot help but feel a sense of nostalgia and gratitude for the past 34 years I have dedicated to this noble profession,” he said.

Gen. Azurin urged the cadets of the PMA to continue to uphold the values of courage, integrity, and loyalty, which are the true hallmarks of their Alma Mater.

“As future AFP commissioned officers and leaders of men, may the spirit of camaraderie and undying bond of brotherhood as PMAers give you courage, hope and strength that you may be able to work jointly as one united strong force. Get motivated by challenges and be inspired of everyone’s achievement. You are the future of our nation, and I have no doubt that someday you will make us all proud,” he said.

He left them with a message to never give up, no matter how tough the journey may be, and to have deep faith in God who is their source of strength, comfort, and guidance.

Gen. Azurin said that as he bids farewell to his duty soon, he is grateful for having the opportunity to serve the country and to make a positive impact on the lives of the Filipino people.
