THROUGHOUT the world, Filipinos are the “darling of foreign employers” because of their sterling qualities as workers.
And Filipinos, particularly the millions of registered voters in the rural areas, are acknowledged as “election-crazy” people.
This is not surprising because the electorate goes to the polls once in three years to elect national and local government officials.
Non-partisan Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKEs) are also held across the country.
In the past, however, these political exercises were often postponed due to political considerations.
There is now that urgent for the Filipino electorate to become “politically mature.”
In other words, let’s educate the voters on the pluses of electing the best candidates and not the misfits during an election.
It is a gigantic undertaking but not an impossible mission.
