PH migrant workers
THROUGHOUT the world, including the United States and the oil-rich Middle East, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are acclaimed as the “darling of foreign employers.”
No less than the assistant director-general of the International Labor Organization (ILO) lauded the OFWs’ “culture of service.”
In fact, Filipino migrant workers, like nurses, engineers, construction workers and caregivers, are known for their hard work.
“I have not seen this culture of service in many countries I have visited,” said ILO assistant director-general Manuela Tomei.
Everybody agrees that OFWs are in demand not only in the United States but in other parts of the world due to their sterling qualities.
Filipinos, men and women, are not only God-fearing, but they are also honest, loyal, efficient, courteous, hard-working and loving.
Although the manpower export industry remains a major pillar of the economy, the governmen`t wants to create more quality local jobs “para hindi na kailangang mag-abroad ang mga Filipino para kumita.”
And the public fully supports the government’s move to create more high-paying jobs in the Philippines.
In the view of the public, this is the only way of meeting the employment needs of the people without them going overseas.
