
PDEG seizes nearly P47-M Kush in Bulacan stings
TWO separate anti-narcotics operations in Bulacan conducted by agents of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group on Saturday resulted in the arrest of two “high-value targets” in Central Luzon and the recovery of some 29 kilograms of Kush, a high-grade marijuana derivative, worth nearly P47 million, PDEG director Brig. Gen. Eleazar P. Matta said yesterday.
In a report to PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the official said that the 1st suspect, who was described as a 43-year-old “high-value individual” from Bgy. Patubig in Marilao, Bulacan , was arrested in a buy-bust operation in his neighborhood at 1:10- p.m. Saturday.
Undercover officers from the PDEG Special Operations Unit 3, with the support of the PDEG Intelligence and Foreign Liaison Division, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)and the Marilao Municipal Police Station confiscated 38 heat-sealed plastic packets each containing half-a-kilo of “high-grade” marijuana from the suspect who is now being held at the Marilao police lock-up facility.
The recovered drugs weighed 19 kilograms and were valued at P28.5 million.
The second suspect described as a 40-year-old resident of Bgy.Patubig in Marilao, Bulacan, was arrested after he sold the prohibited drugs to an undercover officer of the PDEG at Blk. 2, Lot 10, Northville 6 in Bgy. Santol in Balagtas municipality around 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
Members of the PDEG Special Operations Unit 3 and their Intelligence and Foreign Liaison Division, with the support of the PDEA and the Balagtas Municipal Police Station launched the sting.
Confiscated during the anti-drug operation were 24 pieces of heat-sealed plastic packets each containing 500 grams of Kush or a total of 12 kilos valued at P18,000.
The suspect was placed under the temporary custody of the Balagtas police while the recovered pieces of drug evidence were placed under the safekeeping of the Bulacan Provincial Forensic Unit.
Matta commended the dedication of the operating units.
“Our team’s latest buy-bust operation was a resounding success, resulting in the capture of two major drug suspects and the removal of illegal drugs from the streets. These actions demonstrate our unwavering commitment to improving community safety,” he said.
Both suspects will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
