PCSO turns over STL shares, contributions to 3 agencies

MORE than P52.2 million STL shares and mandatory contributions were turned over by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to Philippine National Police (PNP) National Bureau of Investigation( NBI) and Commission on Higher Education ( CHED).

PCSO General Manager Royina Garma together with Assistant General Manager for Branch Operations Sector Atty. Lauro Patiag and Assistant General Manager Julieta Aseo, handed the checks for STL shares and mandatory contributions in three agencies with a total amount of P52,289,280.79.

The PNP recieved the checks amounting to P22,058,902.37 while NBI recieved P8,823,523.72.

The amount were derived from their respective small town lottery (STL) shares for the second quarter of 2021.

The PCSO reiterated that this is not a financial support to fund its daily operation but it is intended to support the PNP’s medical and health related programs.

The CHED shall likewise recieved checks worth P21,406,854.70 as its mandatory contribution for the strengthening of higher education learning pursuant to Republic Act No. 7722 or Higher Education Act of 1994.

“PCSO’S partnership with law enforcing agencies from the NBI and PNP has greatly helped the cause of The Office’s continuous drive in its expansion of its income generating products such as the STL and Lotto in turn to give back to its clientele from its various charitable programs”, Garma said during the turn – over on Monday.

“The NBI and PNP has apprehended numerous cases and battled suspected individuals and groups belonging to underground illegal gaming, this is why, we are truly thankful for their services so that our Agency and the safety of our employees are sought and protected all the time. This is our way of rewarding them for sincerest efforts in helping the government’s plight reduce existing such problems”.
