OVER P163 million medical assistance to a total of 23, 039 eligible beneficiaries were provided by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in September.

Citing latest data released by the state lottery agency, the funds were released to beneficiaries through the agency’s Medical Access Program (MAP).

In Luzon, the beneficiaries include 2,559 indigents from the National Capital Region who received P33.9 million worth of assistance; 4,962 from Northern and Central Luzon who were given P36.5 million; 6,871 from the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region who received P37.6 million.

In Visayas, 3,800 individuals were provided with P25.7 million in medical aid while 4,847 individuals received P29.1 million in Mindanao.

The MAP, formerly known as the Individual Medical Assistance Program, is designed to augment medical assistance for indigent Filipinos, particularly for hospital confinement, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medicines.

The program is funded by revenues from PCSO games nationwide.
