I’M glad the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and their Families (PAFFF) reached Romblon, my province.

Like many provinces, Romblon is not visited by top officials. So I’m sure that Romblomanons were happy when government executives led by Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos flew to my province to deliver assistance from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Distribution of PAFFF is usually led by President Marcos but bad weather cancelled his flight to Romblon.

Odionganons must have been overjoyed if they came face to face with our outstanding leader.

At any rate, I thank the Chief Executive for committing to further develop the healthcare system in Romblon.

In a speech delivered by Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos, President Marcos said the Department of Health (DOH) is closely working with local officials to modernize healthcare facilities in the province.

He said the DOH and local government officials are collaborating to hire more medical professionals, specialists and healthcare workers.

“Sa katunayan, noong nakaraang Abril, na-ipagkaloob [na namin] ang isang Super Health Center sa bayan ng Magdiwang sa Sibuyan Island,” President Marcos said.

The Chief Executive was referring to the PhP846 million used for the Health Facilities Enhancement Program of the government, which covers 134 health facility projects in the Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (MIMAROPA) region.

The government also disbursed PhP2.37 million for the medical, nursing, dental and nutrition services for learners as well as teaching and non-teaching staff from seven school divisions in the region.

“Umaasa kaming higit na malilinang pa ninyo ang mga hatid naming tulong upang mapagyayaman pa ninyo ang inyong lalawigan,” President Marcos said.

The government of President Marcos distributed PhP262.453 million in financial assistance and other services to El Niño-hit farmers and fisherfolk in Romblon.

Romblon is a small province with low revenues. This is why medical facilities like dialysis centers are absent in the locality.

But with President Marcos promising to deliver better healthcare system in Romblon, my Kababayans can expect solid results because the Chief Executive fulfills his commitments.
