
PATTS student is Ms. ROTC Luzon
TAGAYTAY City — Radha Marie Cabug of PATTS College of Aeronautics was named crowned as “Miss ROTC Luzon Games 2024″ during a colorful ceremony held at the Tagaytay Combat Sports Center here Saturday.
Cabug is a third year BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology student at PATTS.
Althessa Patetico of De La Salle University-Manila, (who represents Philippine Army) was named as first runner-up, while Jeraline Acosta of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (who also represents Philippine Army) took second runner-up honor.
Patetico is a first year BS Accountancy and Applied Economics student at La Salle, while Acosta is a first year BS Criminology student at ISPSC.
Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino lauded the winners of the one-of-a-kind beauty contest.
“The Miss ROTC search highlights not just the beauty and talent of the candidates, but also their military training skills and discipline,” said Sen.Tolentino, considered as the “Father of the ROTC Games.”
“Through the Miss ROTC search and the ROTC Games, we are able to showcase another aspect of the ROTC program, which is empowerment and recognition of our youth,” added Sen. Tolentino, the principal author of Senate Bill No. 2034 or the Mandatory ROTC bill.
The Search for the Ms. ROTC Luzon 2024 pageant was one of the highlights of the Luzon regional qualifying leg of the Philippine ROTC Games, which is scheduled on July 28-August 2 at the Cavite State University in Indang, Cavite.
Among the personalities who graced Saturday’s event were Senator Robin Padilla, Commissioner Fritz Gaston of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Cavite State University President Dr. Hernando Robles, Department of National Defense (DND) Assistant Secretary Henry Robinson Jr.; and representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Commission on Higher Education, and the Tagaytay City government.
This year, a total of 2,820 cadet- participants from various colleges and universities across the region will compete in 14 sports disciplines.
These are arnis, athletics, basketball, boxing, chess, e-sports, kickboxing, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, target shooting, volleyball, and raiders competition.
The list of the Luzon leg participants easily surpassed the 1,703 entries in the Visayas leg held in Bacolod City and 1,650 in the Mindanao leg in Zamboanga City.
