P1.3M shabu seized from HVT in Taguig
A HIGH-VALUE target (HVT) drug personality yielded more than P1 million worth of shabu following his arrest in a buy-bust operation Wednesday evening in Taguig City.
Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said elements of Taguig Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) arrested Akmad Sumlay, alias “Tukoy” near his house in Roldan St., Purok 2, Bgy. Lower Bicutan after he handed a medium-size plastic sachet of shabu to an undercover cop in exchange for P40,000 marked money.
Taguig Police chief, P/Col. Robert Baesa said the drug sting operation was conducted at around 7:00 p.m. after a week-long careful monitoring and surveillance operation against the suspect, who was considered one of the HVTs involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in Lower Bicutan and nearby barangays in the city.
During his arrest, operatives of SDEU recovered from the suspect more or less 200 grams of shabu valued at P1,360,000, the buy-bust money consisting of one genuine P1,000, and 39 pieces P1,000 boodle money, maroon belt bag, and weighing scale.
Recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to SPD Forensic Unit for laboratory examination pending the filing of charges for selling and possession of illegal drugs under Article II of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against Sumlay before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.
