AKSYON Demokratiko Chairman Ernest Ramel on Monday claimed that Mayor Isko Moreno “has a proven track record as an executive compared to the rest of the field.”

Ramel stressed that of the leading presidential aspirants for the 2022 Elections, only Mayor Isko has shown real determination and sincerity in seeking the highest position of the land.

Known for his hard work and straight talk, Mayor Isko, president of Aksyon Demokratiko, declared his intention to run for the presidency last September 22.

Barely two weeks later, he formalized his bid by filing his certificate of candidacy on October 4 along with his vice presidential candidate, Dr. Willie Ong.

“Why would Isko withdraw? Clearly, he is the more winnable and as much qualified to lead us out of this pandemic and the bad economic condition we are in. It’s high time that we all focus on the sad flight of the Filipinos and our country,” Ramel said.

Political strategist Angelito Banayo, who heads the Manila mayor’s campaign team, said Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong are running on a people-centered platform not based on the call of a few people or interest groups.

Banayo is referring to the 10-point agenda of governance called “Bilis Kilos,” which was mainly based on the many accomplishments of Mayor Isko in the City of Manila, which include the construction of mass housing for the poor of Baseco, Tondo and Binondo; swift construction of Covid 19 field hospital and a new Ospital ng Maynila; free antigen testings; free Remdisivir and Tocilizumab for covid patients; and continuous delivery of boxes of ayuda to residents.

“Isko and Doc Willie’s decision to run as a tandem is based on the need to heal the wounds of divisiveness and to deal with the extreme crisis the country is facing due to the Covid 19 pandemic,” said Banayo.

Moreno’s resolve to run for the presidency on a platform of unity and transparent governance has reaped political goodwill from all sides of the political spectrum and various sectors of society.

The launching of his presidential bid last September 22 started an outpouring of support from a string of national and local officials who have defected from their erstwhile political parties to join the Aksyon Demokratiko party.

Mayor Isko’s supporters come from established political parties that included the Nacionalista Party, PDP-Laban, National Unity Party, Lakas-CMD, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino, Nationalist People’s Coalition, and the Liberal Party.

Others, like Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto and House Deputy Speaker Vilma-Santos Recto, while never leaving their party, pledged their support behind the Isko Moreno-Willie Ong tandem through their local parties.

Moreno is also getting overwhelming support from various sectors of society, the latest coming from a large coalition of big labor groups led by the 100,000-strong Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization (PTGWO).

The other labor groups that threw their support behind Mayor Isko for president are the National Association of Trade Unions (NATU), All Filipino Workers Confederation (AFWC), the Association of Minimum Wage Earners and Advocates (AMWESA) and the 1-Pangarap Pilipinas

Other sectoral groups supporting Mayor Isko for President include the IM Pilipinas, Young Entrepeneurs for Isko (YES Isko) Kapampangans for Isko, Isko Northern Alliance (INA), Seniors para kay Isko, ISKO Tayo Kabataan (ITK) and Former Government Executives’ Alliance for Heroism and Democracy or FORGE AHEAD.
