
Old school calendar
THE Department of Education (DepEd) plans to set school year 2024-25 from July 29 to March 31, 2025, drawing cheers from the public.
Of course, DepEd’s decision elated not only students, teachers, parents and other school personnel but also health authorities across the Philippines.

The new school year is expected to pave the way for the return of the country’s old school calendar in the Philippines in SY 2025-26.
Under the old school calendar, classes ended in March, with a two-month school break (April and May).

President Marcos had earlier expressed his desire to revert to the old school calendar as soon as possible because of the sweltering heat in many parts of the Philippines.
