NEWLY-PROMOTED Lieutenant General Edgar Alan O. Okubo, the Chief of Directorial Staff of the Philippine National Police, took his oath of office yesterday before PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil.

A member of PNP Academy ‘Tagapagpatupad’ Class of 1992, Okubo was designed by Gen. Marbil as the PNP-TCDS, the 4th highest position in the 232,000-strong police force on October 4 last year.

As the PNP-TCDS, the official supervises and synchronizes the functions of the PNP Directorial Staff Offices in support of the operations of the Police Regional Offices and National Support Units of the organization.

Prior to that, Okubo used to be the director of the PNP Civil Security Group. He also previously served as chief of the PNP Directorate for Police-Community Relations, a director of the National Capital Region Police Office and the elite PNP Special Action Force.

The 54-year-old Okubo on record became the first graduate of the PNPA to head the NCRPO and the PNP-SAF.
