Nutri Fun Run for healthy living
THE city government of Mandaluyong led by Mayor Ben Abalos yesterday held its 14th Nutri Fun Run as part of the government’s healthy living program for the public.
Joining the local chief executive in the activity were Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, and other local officials.
An estimated 10,000 individuals participated in the 3-kilometer run which started at 5 a.m. from the City Hall heading towards Martinez Street to Fabella Road.
Mayor Abalos, who chairs the City Nutrition Committee, encouraged everyone to shift to a healthy lifestyle by choosing a sport that they like or join the different sports the city government is promoting such as boxing, basketball, and different martial arts.
Consuming nutritious meals and avoiding junk food and sugary drinks were just some of the advice of Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, who is the vice chairman of the City Nutrition Committee and a nutrition advocate for the city.
As former mayor of Mandaluyong, Secretary Abalos would continue the campaign against illegal drugs under the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” or BIDA Program of the agency.
The annual nutri-fun run is also anchored to DILG’s BIDA Run encouraging every Mandaleños to be fit and healthy by giving importance on life by avoiding the use of illegal drugs.
