NPA member yields to authorities in Rizal
A MEMBER of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army’s Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee on Tuesday surrendered to authorities in Baras, Rizal following negotiations with field officers, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
Identified only as “Ka Roman,” the man described as an active member of the CPP-NPA’s Guerrilla Front Narciso, also turned over an improvised 12-gauge shotgun with three live ammunition when he yielded shortly before noon Tuesday.
The rebel surrendered following talks with officers from the Naval Intelligence Security Group and the Rizal Police Provincial Office under Col. Felipe B. Maraggun.
Members of the Eastern Police District, the Quezon City Police District, the Makati and Mandaluyong City Police Stations, the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Army’s 80th Infantry Battalion were also involved in the operations which led to the surrender of the NPA member.
The man was placed under the custody of the Rizal PPO’s Provincial Mobile Force Company prior to the processing of his application for the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Livelihood Program for rebel returnees.
