NCRPO Holy Week anti-crime drive nets 108 fugitives
THE stepped-up anti-criminality campaign by the National Capital Region Police Office during the Holy Week resulted in the arrest of 108 wanted persons in Metro Manila, NCRPO director, Major General Anthony A. Aberin said yesterday.
“This is part of our continuing effort to prove to all lawbreakers in the metropolis that they cannot run and cannot hide from the long arms of the law,” said the official.
According to Maj. Gen. Aberin, from Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday, tracker teams from the five NCRPO police districts went to work accounting for the 108 suspects with various criminal offenses.
Among those arrested were 10 Top Ten Most Wanted Persons or MWPs, 33 MWPs and 65 Other Wanted Persons.
Maj. Gen. Aberin praised the unwavering efforts of the Able, Active, and Allied personnel of NCRPO.
“Our security coverage for the Holy Week includes aggressive and procedure-based manhunt operations against fugitives of the law. NCRPO will remain steadfast in enforcing the law, removing threats to public safety and security during the Lenten Season,” he said.
He also said that there will be a continuing NCRPO campaign to account for wanted persons in the metropolis.
“Let this operation be a warning to all who continue to hide from the law: your time will come. Our pursuit will not stop, and the NCRPO will remain relentless in its mission to rid our streets of criminal elements. We owe this to our people—to ensure that every neighborhood in Metro Manila is a place where families can feel safe,” he said.
