Navotas holds youth camp
THE city government recently conducted the Navotas Youth Camp for young Navoteños to enjoy their school break while honing their skills in sports and the arts.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco lauded the participants for making the most of their school break which included 477 Navoteños ages 10–19 who were trained in different sports and 150 who opted to learn arts.
“We’re glad that you chose to use your school vacation to improve your talents and skills. We hope you enjoyed the workshops and gained new friends. Continue to develop yourself and improve your abilities,” he said.
A former athlete himself, Tiangco noted that the city hopes the sports and arts camps will promote holistic development of young Navoteños and encourage them to explore their talents and interests.
Sports covered in the camp included arnis with 16 participants; athletics, 34; sepak takraw, 36; football, 16; touch football, 11; pencak silat, 22; and wushu, 25.
The youth camp was part of Navotas’ 17th cityhood anniversary.
