Napolcom, PNP to pursue charges vs ‘viral’ QCPD cop
NO amount of repentance can stop the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) from pursuing the cases against the “viral” cop who denounced the government for the arrest and sending of former President Rodrigo Duterte to the Netherlands.
According to Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), the criminal and administrative charges slapped against Patrolman Francis Steve Fontillas of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will push through.
Fontillas has already reported to the QCPD on Thursday (March 20). He was crying and extremely apologetic when he met his superiors, a far contrast to his “daring” social media posts challenging even the PNP chief “not to mess” with him.
In one of his posts, Fontillas bravely said he is not accountable to President Marcos Jr. but only to the ones providing him with his salary – the taxpayers.
Acting QCPD director Colonel Melecio Buslig Jr. confirmed that the “wayward” policeman reported at around 11 a.m. and submitted explanations regarding his actions and absences.
The QC top cop said that Fontillas will have to undergo a medical check-up and neuro-psychiatric examination as part of the requirements for the “return to active duty” process.
According to Buslig Jr., Pat. Fontillas expressed his sincere apology and deep regret for his actions saying he has learned from this experience as he vowed not to repeat such behavior.
However, Commissioner Calinisan said Napolcom and the PNP will continue to pursue the criminal and administrative cases against Fontanillas despite his promises not to post seditious comments and hate speech on his social media pages again.
“The Napolcom will resolve it with judicious dispatch as his fitness to remain in the police service is what is at stake,” Calinisan stressed.
Fontillas has yet to file a responsive pleading before the Police Commission.
