MMDA to act on SOG chief ‘mistake’
THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said they would take action against MMDA Special Operations Group Task Force Head Gabriel Go and address the matter seriously and with full accountability.
“Mr. Go is a dedicated MMDA enforcer. If he committed a mistake, we will accord him due process and penalize him as justified, ” MMDA said in a statement issued yesterday.
MMDA said they already talked to Senator JV Ejercito regarding his post and provided a clarification regarding the matter involving Go, particularly the complaint of a lady traffic enforcer that was mentioned in his post.
According to MMDA, Go resigned from the agency in June 2023 and was rehired in November of the same year.
“At the time of his rehiring, no case had been filed against him. No formal or sworn complaint, nor any supporting documentation related to the matter, was submitted to the MMDA Committee on Decorum and Investigation,” the statement also said.
At the same time, the MMDA said they are consistently reminding their employees that they are public servants and should treat everyone with respect and utmost courtesy. Even in times of aggression, they should exercise maximum tolerance and compassion.
” However, we are only human. We get tired, and sometimes, our zealousness in enforcing the traffic laws gets the best of us. ”
“Doing our job is challenging and most of the time frustrating, but this is not an excuse to violate our policies or protocols. Our commitment to serving the public must remain unwavering, amid difficulties and adverse public reactions. ” MMDA added.
About Go’s actions during clearing operations, a show cause order has already been issued to him.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our constituents. It will be a learning experience for Go and the MMDA as a whole. A proper apology should be made to Captain Erik Felipe for the harm it may have caused him and his family.”
The MMDA said they have already reached out to the top officials of the Philippine National Police, the Napolcom, and QCPD regarding the issue, and agreed that the isolated incident will not, in any way, tarnish their good relationship, and will maintain coordination, mutual respect, and cooperation between their organizations.
