PHILIPPINE National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. yesterday announced the arrest of three suspects in separate anti-criminality operations in Mindanao.

He said that one of the suspects, a 49-year-old farmer from South Cotabato, was arrested in Malungon, Sarangani, on the strength of a warrant of arrest for murder and frustrated murder issued by a local court.

Members of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group under Brig. Gen. Rudolph B. Dimas led the successful manhunt operation.

The 2nd suspect, a 34-year-old house painter, tagged as the 6th most wanted drug personality in Davao City, was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation last Friday.

The suspect yielded some P7,500 worth of shabu and a caliber .38 revolver with three live ammunition.

He is now facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

The 3rd, a businessman, was arrested by policemen manning a checkpoint in Barangay Matling in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, Thursday.

The suspect yielded an unlicensed Colt AR-15 automatic rifle with a magazine containing 30 live ammunition. He is now facing charges for violation of RA 10591.

“The arrest of the suspect was in accordance with our protocol in conducting checkpoint operations. Since the firearm was clearly seen from the outside of the vehicle, our personnel had to fulfill their innate duty to enforce the law, Lt. Gen. Danao said.
