Miel Pangilinan to go to NY for college
MIEL Pangilinan, the youngest daughter of megastar Sharon Cuneta and former senator Kiko Pangilinan, bared her plan of pursuing a course at Parsons School of Design in New York.
Miel will leave for the US in August to start her college life there.
Last July 17, Miel had her first exhibit of her paintings as part of the students of L’Arc en Ciel, with Elaine Ongpin Herbosa as curator her teacher. Miel joined a group of students, old and new, who displayed their works at the Ayala Museum Gallery.
“I started with Tita Elaine at the age of ten,” Miel disclosed. “But for some reason, I wasn’t able to continue. I had to take a very long break from tita’s atelier for many years.
“I only came back after graduating high school. I hope you can see my passion in the two paintings that I finished this year – only two. I’m also trying to work on a series.”
Miel was accompanied by her father, Kiko, who cut the ceremonial ribbon in the exhibit, with Philippine Airlines president, Captain Stanley Chua, as well as business woman Jojo Natividad Acero.
Her siblings – Frankie and Miguel – were also with her. Mom Sharon, however, could not come since she was taping for ABS-CBN.
Roderick reunites with Aga
RODERICK Paulate and Aga Muhlach previously worked together in Oki Doki Doc two decades ago. Never did they imagined to work together again in a sitcom.
Roderick got a personal call from Aga to be in the cast of Da Pers Family. Roderik plays a chef, the BFF of Aga. But they became estranged and their friendship was affected because of envy.
“Happy ako at gusto at excited ako ulit to work with Aga,” Roderick said. “He was the one who personally requested that I become part of the cast of Pers Family. This is not work to me. Relaxed ako. Happy ako. I’m so excited to always go to the taping. It’s an honor.
“Gwapo, dimples, doon nagsimula ang hatred ko sa kanya sa plot namin. “Magkaibigan pa rin kami. Pero alam mo ‘yung sa friendship na hindi pa maka-move on, ako ‘yun. Siya naka move on na. With Aga personally calling me up, how can you say no?
“So tuwing nakikita ko ‘yung babae between us (Charlene), nandodoon pa rin. Gusto ko mapasama si Aga.”
“Para sa kanya, relax lang siya. For him, there’s no rivalry. Pero sa akin, may conflict na agad especially same business kami.”
Ces Quesada, meanwhile, plays a naughty grandmother in the sitcom. ‘Yung asawa ako, si Lolo Roman, siya ang nag-umpisa ng business ng Pers (Persival) family. Lukaret akong lola at weird siya.
“Lahat sila ninenerbiyos whenever I was about to say something na pang-Vivamax ang dating kung hindi nila ako pigilan.”
Bayani Agbayani, meanwhile, was the one who coined the Pers Family for the title. “Maraming suggestions pero hindi pasado kay Aga,” he said. “Pero nung marinig niya ang Pers Family, sabi agad, ‘Gusto ko ‘yan.”
Bayani plays the best friend of Aga in the sitcom. They’ve been friends even before Aga got married. Bayani subsequently joined Aga’s family. He was also invited to work as creative consultant for the sitcom.
Joining the “Pers Family” are Aga’s children, Atasha and Andres, who are making their TV acting debut.
“Atasha is no match to my English,” Bayani smilingly said of Aga’s daughter. “Andres is a sick man with my English.”
Part of the cast are new-generation artists. Heart Ryan plays the childhood best friend of Atasha and Andres in her first sitcom. Kedebon Colim plays a notorious pick-pocket in the area who eventually works for the Pers Family.
Sam Coloso plays Mariposa who sells rice and has a big crush to Roderick. Atasha is “daldalera, makulit, but a problem solver” in the family. Andres works as a sketch artist.
Charlene plays the mom who balances situation in their family, while Aga is the father to Andres and Atasha and the better half of Charlene.
Aga cannot be more thankful that the dream cast he envisioned for Pers Family eventually came to be. At the helm of Pers Family is Danni Caparas, who worked with Aga more than two decades ago in his previous sitcoms. Head writer is Randy Reyes.
